A Snail’s Pace

Published February 7, 2009

Sometimes I feel like I make progress in my life about as quickly as this snail moves from one place to another.

Some days, maybe that’s the best I can do, but if there is some forward movement, at least that’s progress.  Maybe that’s ok, if along the way, I remember to appreciate the small stuff — to enjoy the journey.  And I hope you are enjoying your path too.

I almost stepped on this little guy one morning when I was busy looking up at the sky and the whole landscape in Palos Verdes. But I happened to see her just in time, so I got down and communed with this snail for a few minutes.  And I stood up feeling better somehow — more alive, more connected.

Did you know that snails are hermaprodites?  But they still have sex with other snails in order to reproduce. They still need each other.
